What will you do at Ciena?
DIMENSION & SCOPE:
The Lab Management Engineering team requires a System Support Eng. to provide daily support for ongoing lab support requests. The primary responsibility of System Support is to provide Second level support to all internal and Offshore customers (HW & SW design, Verification, Product Support..etc) of the Ciena labs. Second level support includes advanced troubleshooting of Optical systems. System commissioning and SW installation on all Ciena Products and Supported computing platforms.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
In more specific terms, detail function-by-function / responsibility-by-responsibility what the incumbent is held accountable for over a given period of time, beginning with the major duties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support for all equipment and issues originating from the Design and Verification community. Issues will vary but in general should fall into one of the following categories. A clear understanding of these types of issues is required.
System Commissioning and Maintenance of Ciena Network elements including upgrades/downgrades and system reconfigurations.
Installation and Patching of preproduction SW on Lab computing platforms including HP, SUN, Linux and Windows based operating systems.
Provide advance troubleshooting for all Network Elements and Computing Nodes
Create Automation/Scripts to improve productivity
