**TECHNICAL MANAGER**
We have an immediate opening for a Technical Manager for a full-time, permanent position out of our Projects Central Division in Port Dover. Reporting to the General Manager this role will work with our vessel engineers, support crew, and Operations team in managing our fleet assets. As the Technical Manager, you will lead the onboard crew to manage technical/operational matters for your assigned fleet of tugs and barges, including preventative maintenance of equipment, commercial readiness, planning of long-term corrective and preventative actions. You will also contribute by preparing and managing the yearly R&M and CAPX budgets. You are motivated by problem-solving, collaborating amongst a team and working with a diverse client base.
**About Projects Central Division**:
Projects Central is a provider of innovative turnkey marine services on the Great Lakes across different industries including construction, power generation, environmental remediation, hydrographic investigations, supply chain, oil & gas amongst others. We have a fleet of tugs and barges and possess tremendous organizational experience and capacity with which we deliver projects safely, on schedule and at competitive costs. At McKeil Marine, we are growing fast by developing and implementing innovative marine solutions with a broad customer base in challenging geographic environments.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provides personal safety leadership to the crew.
- Prepares crew/project planning and scheduling together with colleagues.
- Provides adequate communication regarding schedule and mobilisation.
- Develops a simple and effective proactive maintenance plan for critical equipment.
- Facilitates prompt supply of vessel needs.
- Maintains and updates all records of repairs, maintenance, overhauls and drydocking.
- Handles the RFQ process for all maintenance, docking and overhaul.
- Actively works towards achieving set KPIs.
- Conducts periodic inspections of assets, document NCs, investigates root causes and leads implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensures assets’ compliance with Class/TC regulations at all times.
- Prepares annual budget-forecast for the upcoming season.
- Develops concise operational procedures for critical equipment on assigned assets.
- Prepares periodic reports on fleet performance, safety stats, equipment utilisation etc.
**Education and Experience**:
- Mechanical and/or Marine Engineering abilities. Maritime Studies or significant industry experience without formal education.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
- Can handle a lot of information and process into prioritized action plans.
- Enjoys problem-solving,
- Gives technological advances and changes within this industry, uses technology in their management and reporting.
- Has a positive attitude, is teachable, moves quickly and is open to trying new ideas.
- Has demonstrated communication skills (verbal, written, including conflict resolution) and comfort communicating across a broad range of individuals from regulators to crew.
- Demonstrates strong computer skills including but not limited to the Microsoft Suite of Products.
**Working Conditions/Special Notes**:
- Travel required based on operational demand.
- Standard hours 8:00 - 4:30 (_occasional outside hours required by operational demand)_
