Key Activities

1. Lead and manage the maintenance of the Company’s safety program. Maintain strong presence in the fleet; perform regular vessel and facility inspections and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Company regulations and ensure that all vessel and facility employees receive required safety training. Manage emergency response for incidents and injuries whenever they occur at a 3-shift operation. Manage near-miss reporting and incident records system. Assists the Operations Department as directed in environmental training and compliance.

2. Analyze and communicate safety performance (incident rate, training, lost-time injury) to all appropriate supervisors and managers. Establish and implement improvement plans based upon analysis to satisfy the Company’s initiatives and site-specific needs.

3. Control and communicate documents pertinent to the safety, environment and security systems to all affected personnel including, but not limited to, safety and security policies and procedures and all regulatory and corporate reporting requirements.

4. Serve as the technical liaison for researching, analyzing, and communicating on SSE issues to regulatory bodies as directed and the Company’s management team.

This position will interact with the Company’s executive level management and will also have a dynamic player/coach relationship with vessel managers with respect to how compliance is effectively achieved and sustained. Will develop relationships with local Transport Canada representatives; Interact with employees with respect to safety and security concerns. Coordinate inspections and training with contractors.

**Education and/or Experience Required (including certifications)**:

- Bachelor’s degree with concentration in science, engineering, operations or safety management.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in the Safety/Security/Environmental field, preferably in a Marine, Production or Operations environment, in the areas of Auditing, and Policy Administration.
- Specific knowledge and experience with confined space entry, elevated work hazards, incident prevention and behavioral based safety concepts.
- Experienced in root cause analysis and near-miss reporting is required.
- Must be experienced in Marine and Safety Regulations
- Proficient in basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- An advanced degree is preferred for this position.
