Concrete Crew Personnel

Carmacks Enterprises Ltd. is actively seeking **Concrete Crew Personnel **for our Municipal Division. This job will be based in Edmonton and surrounding area for the season. **What is the role?**

**Concrete Finishers**:

- Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade.
- Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement.
- Operate power vibrators to compact concrete.
- Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification.
- Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.
- Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces.
- Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures.

**Labourers**:

- Loading and unloading construction materials, move to work areas.
- Installing and maintaining barricades on work site.
- Support Equipment Operators and Co-workers.
- Supply temporary traffic signaling and flagging support on work site.
- Levelling materials to fine grade specifications using rakes, shovels, and various small hand tools.
- Removing rubble, trash, and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment.
- Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers as well as various small powered and non-powered hand tools.
- Tending or feeding equipment used on work site, such as mixers, compressors, and pumps.
- Oiling, greasing, and cleaning site equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Carpenters**:

- Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden and/or metal forms, according to specifications, for molding concrete structures such as: piers, footers, retaining walls, abutments, parapets, caps, columns and bridge decks.
- Saw lumber per blueprint dimensions, using handsaw or power saw, and nail lumber together to make form panels.
- Lift and handle built-in-place forms and/or assembles, erect and install prefabricated forms.
- Insert spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions.
- Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables and planks.
- Build rough wooden structures such as: scaffolds, temporary frame shelters, overhand jacks and safety railings.

**What do we value?**
- Minimum 3 years of experience with concrete placing and finishing.
- Experience with concrete, gravel base course, soil-cement.
- Ability to place and finish concrete to desired elevation and finish.
- Experienced with Gomaco concrete laying procedures.
- Experienced with hand crew concrete laying procedures.
- Experience working as a general labourer in civil road construction.
- Operate small hand and power tools.
- Journeyman Carpenter Ticket is an asset.
