**Position Summary**
The Restorative Care Assistant is responsible to plan, prepare and facilitate programs and opportunities to meet the social, emotional, spiritual, physical and restorative care needs of all residents. In collaboration with contracted physiotherapist and other professionals, this position will implement, evaluate and revise therapeutic plan of care for residents.
**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
Organize resident caseload to ensure a prioritized list of routines and services is consistently executed
Monitor resident attendance and participation in Restorative Program and complete associated documentation
Responsible to maintain and control equipment inventory in nursing equipment room which is used for resident restorative care, support and mobility
Assist with the integration of volunteers, family members, and students into the programs and services of the facility
Conduct program evaluations through interviews, observations, surveys to assess the effectiveness of programs and future planning
Compile, analyze, and report on Restorative Care Service and relevant statistical data
Maintain current knowledge and practice of accepted activation and rehabilitation principles
Provide accurate and current reports, documentation of services provided and other data as required; regularly record in resident progress notes to report any noted changes in residents, and response to programs
Actively promote and follow safe work practices and ensure accident prevention and health and safety responsibilities are fully met by self and others
Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications, Competencies**
2 year diploma in a health related field involving studies such as activation techniques, accredited restorative care, physiotherapy assistance, kinesiology, physical education or equivalent
Six (6) months experience in long term care, as a direct care provider in restorative care or rehabilitation
Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork
**Skills, Abilities, Work Demands**
Demonstrated knowledge and willingness to enhance capacity related to gerontology, techniques in recreation, restorative care and/or sensory stimulation
General working knowledge of computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
Knowledge and commitment to the field of rehabilitation including an interest in promoting the well-being and independence of others
Demonstrated initiative, patience, and creative problem solving skills combined with empathy
Experience conducting personal interviews with Long Term Care residents and/or family members, and volunteers
Able to perform the essential duties of the job such as executing physical exercise and using therapy equipment
Demonstrated ability to interact with Long Term Care residents in a caring and respectful manner
Able to maintain confidentiality
Commitment to promoting and following safe work practices
Able to work independently and as an effective team member in a cooperative manner with all members of staff, families, residents, volunteers and outside agencies
Demonstrated communication, organizational, prioritization and time management skills
Committed to ongoing learning and development
Proof of recent screening for Tuberculosis (TB)
Proof of immunity to communicable diseases
Proof of full COVID-19 immunization receipt (2 doses)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector.
