With an eye to accessible and inclusive learning design in curriculum and course delivery, the Manager is responsible for working with program directors and chairs addressing curricular changes that align with UVic’s strategic plans and other planning documents, including the Indigenous, International, Equity Action, and Accessibility plans. **Objectives**: - Lead a team of curriculum specialists, ensuring the creation of high-quality, pedagogically sound curricula. - Actively contribute to faculty development and the promotion of a teaching-focused community, emphasizing student learning outcomes and experiences, teaching innovation, and inclusivity. - Support faculty in integrating best practices and inclusive design into program-level curricula, offering workshops, and fostering teaching excellence. - Collaborate with other departments to enhance accessible learning and compliance with accessibility standards, as well as overseeing the Online Assessment Room for students requiring accommodation. - Job Requirements Master’s Education required 5 years of experience in the educational development field. 3 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role in an academic setting An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. **Work experience includes**: - Management or leadership experience with professional teams in a post-secondary environment, including proven skill in staff development and relationship management and achieving results using a collaborative approach - Experience leading projects - Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices used in curriculum development, including educational technologies, development of learning outcomes, blended learning, face-to-face learning, course and program design and assessment of learning - Demonstrable potential to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning. - Course design experience and teaching experience (in multiple modalities) - Advanced skills and knowledge in media and document accessibility remediation (e.g., Word, PDF, Power Point, Excel, WordPress) - Experience designing and developing training programs that integrate pedagogical methods, including universal design for learning or inclusive design principles, EDI, and decolonization and Indigenization of curriculum **Knowledge, skills, and abilities include**: - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Excellent interpersonal skills - Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently - Ability to work in an effective and organized manner in a complex and challenging environment - Ability to coordinate projects that involve multiple stakeholders - Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact and patience when working with students, faculty and staff who have varied levels of experience with technology and/or accessibility-related technology **Territory Acknowledgement**:We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **What UVic Offers**:To learn more click here.
