Your role

Interested in joining a small, vibrant team focused on teaching? Want to help create official-language learning exercises tied into CBC/Radio-Canada content? Want to work with some of the top talent in the industry?

If you answered yes to these questions, know that Radio-Canada is looking for an ESL (English as a Second Language) content writer for the Mauril project, a platform for learning French and English with diverse, stimulating, and entertaining content from CBC/Radio-Canada.

You will actively contribute to creating an innovative project that provides a distinctive edutainment-based approach to language learning through audio and video content that reflects Canada and its cultural diversity. As a member of the team, you will develop teaching material aimed at validating acquisition of English Second Language (ESL) proficiency and enabling learners to progress through the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

Please note:
- This is a 12-month contract position, with a possibility of extension.- The position is based out of Montreal.

More specifically, you will perform the following duties:
- Review audio/video content and categorize it based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) standard.- Identify appropriate clips to create second-language learning exercises for a range of levels.- Identify key vocabulary words, create background material, and draft multiple-choice questions in connection with the selected clips.- Take part in discussions and observations about the user experience of learners at different stages of project development.- Bachelor’s degree in education, second language teaching, or any other related, relevant training- Knowledge of language proficiency levels (Canadian Language Benchmarks an asset)- Knowledge and experience in assessing students’ second-language learning requirements- Experience writing content for e-learning platforms an asset- Superior English
