They provide direction to achieve timelines, deliver high quality data, and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills. They partner with Breeders, Scientists, Project Managers, and stakeholders to support Bayer’s business needs. The Operations Lead will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge proprietary research equipment and superior genetic material to help deliver Bayer’s R&D pipelines. They will also lead site culture and manage the performance of local full time and contract employees. Bayer is committed to a flexible seasonal hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position based out of Headingley, MB. **What you will do**: Leadership: - Proactively seeks and communicates broader business objectives and key messages to their site - Provides and receives feedback for development of self and others (direct reports, peers, partner, people leader, etc.) - Ensure that critical conversations, coaching, and development planning are happening at the site - Champions cross-functional (Commercial, Product Supply, other Breeding functions, etc. including regionally and globally) inclusion and collaboration. - Recognizes individuals and team accomplishments - Motivates and empowers the team to take pride and ownership in their processes as well as drive continuous improvement - Facilitates a culture of change Operations: - Delivers business objectives defined for the site - Prioritizes resources such as budget, labor, supplies, etc. to meet HSE (Health / Safety / Environment), Regulatory, and Corporate policy requirements for the site to ensure Freedom to Operate (FTO). Creates a culture of safety, quality, and compliance. Ensures alignment of cross functional expectations. - Develops, tracks, and keeps team apprised of site and organizational metrics - Serves as a role model for others to follow when complying with our Company's LIFE (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, Efficiency) principles and policies - Delegates operational leadership and responsibilities as well as ensures accountability - Drives continuous improvement at the site and regularly shares key findings and opportunities with other sites - Ensures all site members are trained on standard work processes and tools and establishes key contacts for accountability and follow up - Acquire and maintain facilities and equipment for effective and efficient functioning of all programs Strategy: - Drive the vision and goals of the site to align with the Bayer and Breeding North America strategy - Own and maintain contingency plan(s) for their site - Forecasts and owns all aspects of budgeting and capital aligning with site’s long-range plan - Identify and build a talent pipeline for your site. Understands personnel outside of function and/or externally to include them in talent planning. Influences other functions/divisions talent planning Community Engagement: - Ensures Site Delivers on all Community Engagement Objectives while also seeking ways to grow on this initiative regionally - Actively involved with "Telling Our Story" (social media, community events, media, etc.) as well as acting as an ambassador of Bayer. Actively builds industry relations and member of local agriculture groups - Organize Community Advisory Panel (as applicable) - Active with Government Relations and represents Bayer as knowledge/industry expert in public forums (as applicable) Key Working Relations: - Promote customer focus through relationships with landowners/cooperators to identify and develop key testing locations - Represent and contribute to the site’s community engagement to cultivate trust in the community - Partner with internal stakeholders across the R&D (Compliance, Field Solutions, Biotech, Regulatory, Production Research, Trait Quality), Market Development, Product Supply, Commercial Sales and HSE organization to ensure clear understanding of expectations to deliver desired results - Serve as a technical representative to external parties in partnership with Commercial, Marketing, and other functions on agronomic topics such as product pipeline development, agronomy practices, and compliance standards - Promote and communicate for the site as the point person for interactions with Government Affairs, community leader
