**Position Description**

Under the direct supervision of the Children’s Housing Extended Leadership Team, the Supervisor position is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing home for children. Our home supports care for and supervises children aged 0-12 on a 24-hour basis. The coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of programs that will have a positive impact and be a benefit to the children who reside at the home. This position works in collaboration with the child support on floor members, the managers and the department as a whole to create a team environment. The coordinator role entails maintaining and updating support plans, coaching team members and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to promote the well-being and development of children in consultation with the Manager and Extended Leadership Team.

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Program Implementation**

The primary role of the Child Support Team Supervisor is to assist and guide implementation of the homes program making the children’s stay as positive as possible. Duties include:

- Ensure the proper care and safety of the children
- Participate in the planning and implementation of structured activities for children
- Supervise staff and children during all daily activities, including meals, bedtimes
- Proactively mentor and coach staff on best approaches to de-escalate situations and mediate during conflicts with children
- Respond to the emotional needs of children in crisis
- Follow a case plan for each child and document daily interactions
- Ensure programs and services respond to the needs of children
- Ensure monthly Case pans are provided to Manager/Director
- Ensure Manager and Director are prepared for quarterly case conferences with MSS worker
- Ensure progress of each child is monitored
- Ensure that staff maintain trauma informed practices in all interactions with children;
- Ensure a safe and secure environment by following policies and procedures; and,
- Adherence to the residential services Manual and Child Protection Act.
- Organize/Provide transportation as needed.

**2. Supervisory**
- Assist with staff scheduling in coordination with the Manager
- Ensure that proper care, safety and supervision are provided to each child
- Ensure staff are maintaining a high level of care including;
- Staff adherence to Mandt principals
- Planning and organizing of daily activities plan for the children.
- Ongoing updates of child support plans, including developmental milestones
- Ensuring manger is informed of any concerns, complaints, areas of improvement and ensuring overall performance of the home is maintain at a high level.
- Help lead staff meetings, including a focus on child support plans and daily activity planning
- Promote a collaborative and cohesive work environment to maximize the effectiveness of the team
- Supervise daily team activities, providing ongoing guidance, support and mentorship
- Work in direct collaboration with the House Manger
- Staff coaching and potential discipline
- Staff recognition

**3. House Maintenance**

The Child Support Team Supervisor are expected to work as a team to make sure the home runs efficiently. Duties include:

- Participate in household management including cooking, laundry, and cleaning
- Maintain a high standard of health and safety procedures
- Participating in completion of daily cleaning checklists
- Ensuring monthly fire drills are completed

**4. Administration and Reporting**

The Child Support Team Supervisor assure the completion of reporting accurate and necessary information to ensure proper case planning and processes.
- Document incidents
- Daily shift documentation and overview
- Keep an accurate logbook of activities

**5. Intakes / Discharges**
- Assure completion / creation of Child Information Form and Online File
- Request requisitions - car seat / luggage / clothing
- Communicate details through teams

**6. Medical**
- Ensure all medical appointments are booked and schedule on the house calendar
- Safeguard prescriptions are filled and medications are up to date (return expired / unused)
- Establish updated child information forms and signed medication administration sheets

**7. School**
- Sign agendas and notes (with no liability present), place a copy in child’s file
- General communication and may be asked by Leadership to attend conferences
- Supply shopping

**8.Transportation**
- Child seats are installed correctly

**9. Birthdays**
- Insure all current children’s Birthdays are entered correctly on the house calendar
- Plan a party
- Invite family members when appropriate

**10. Training and Team Meeting**
- Guiding new hires through house procedures during shadow shifts
- Participating in staff orientations
- Assisting new hires through LMS on line training during in house sessions
