Child Minder Team Member

Monday to Friday - 4 hours per day - mix of day time and evening hour
**Position Description**
Individuals employed as a Child Minder Team Member are responsible for providing nurturing care and programming to children residing in a YWCA shelter with their mothers. This person works with their new team to assist with providing age-appropriate care and activities for children of all ages.
The primary focus of this position will be working directly with resident children in a supportive capacity, engaging them in age-appropriate activities while their mother may or may not be in the facility. The Child Minder Team Member position will be a positive role model and sensitive to the needs of diverse groups of children.
**Responsibilities include**
- PROGRAMMING
Develop and implement activities, which are developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
- HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS
It is the responsibility of the Child Minder Team Member to ensure a safe and healthy environment is maintained.
- COMMUNICATION
The Child Minder Team Member develops positive, open communication with the children and their caregivers.
- ADMINISTRATION
This position must ensure the necessary administrative tasks are completed to meet the requirement policies and practices.
**Qualifications**
- Must enjoy spending time with children of all ages
- Experience working with children in a group setting
- Ability to work with multiple children of different ages at one time
- Interest in reading, literacy development, arts and crafts
- Interest and ability to participate in varied physical activities
- Education and/or training in child development is an asset
- Experience working with children who have experienced trauma, poverty, or homelessness is an asset
- Cross cultural sensitivity and knowledge of diversity
- Be able to obtain a Criminal Records Check
- Have valid CPR Level C and First Aid
