**JOB POSTING - SUPPORTIVE ROOMMATE**

Optional Rehabilitation Services Inc. (OPTIONS) is a not-for profit agency approved to support adults and seniors who have a wide range of disabilities. For over 38 years and in a partnership of support, OPTIONS, individuals and their families work together to create individualized support models that enhance and fulfill hopes and dreams.

OPTIONS is looking for aSupportive Roommate who currently residesin Calgary - preferably the NW area of the city. We are looking for a long-term commitment from an individual or a family who would include our client in their home and take the client out in the community.

The Supportive Roommate must have the following requirements:
**HOME REQUIREMENTS**:

- Home must have 1 private bedroom and bathroom in addition to a living area for our client.
- Home Safety Inspection such as fire safety detectors, furnace inspection, fire extinguisher, etc.
- Commercial Liability Insurance for the home.
- Pets and children in the home are welcome.
- Prefer the NW area of the city.
- Inclusive household.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ability to provide supportive and positive companionship to an adult with a development disability and who has an active lifestyle.
- Willingness to drive our client to activities during the weekend/evenings.
- Active participation in the individual’s care plan and support team.
- Ensure that the individual is included in community activities and is an active member of your household.
- Complete Supportive Roommate documentation as provided and required by OPTIONS.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Experience working with an adult with a developmental disability.
- communicate effectively and effortlessly.
- Willingness to attend mandatory training (Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Positive Behavioral Supports, Emergency First Aid, etc.).
- Minimum Class 5 License with $2 million Liability Vehicle Insurance.
- Current Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check.

**Things that would be a big plus**:

- Needs private bathroom, bedroom and additional living space.
- Active lifestyle.
- Willing to drive to activities in the weekend/evening.
- Looking for a long-term commitment.
