Calgary, Canada Community Living Alternative Services Full time

Community Living Alternative Services (CLAS) is seeking a Supportive Living Roommate with demonstrated experience working directly with adults with developmental disabilities, who can provide a safe, secure home with an inclusive, caring, and supportive friend/roommate experience. **The individual looking for supported living arrangements would like to live as the downtown core in South Calgary.**

About the Supportive Living Program: The focus of this program is to provide an alternative for Individuals to live in an environment which supports their development and growth within a homelike atmosphere. As a Supportive Living Roommate, you will provide a bedroom or suite and receive a flat monthly payment for care and support to make a meaningful, positive difference in the life of an individual with disabilities.

The Supportive Roommate provides the necessary developmental supports and growth in a less “family - like” setting and on more of a “friend or roommate” basis. All the supports are intended to assist the Individual in learning skills to allow them as much independence and community inclusion as possible, while providing for their safety and security in their daily living.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide care and support within your home for an adult with developmental disabilities, including providing behavioral and mental health support.
- Accompany the individual to appointments, meetings, or activities during the day.
- Actively participate as a member of the individual's support team.
- Ensure the individual's active involvement in community activities and facilitate their integration into your household.
- Maintain thorough documentation as required.

**Requirements**:

- Must reside and be able to provide living accommodation within Northeast Calgary, AB
- Background in disability support services, particularly in developmental delay or mental health supports.
- Relevant education/training certifications, including First Aid, and Abuse Protocols strongly preferred.
- Reliable, well-maintained personal vehicle and valid Class 5 driver’s license with liability Insurance coverage of two million dollars.
- Ability and willingness to obtain commercial liability insurance.
- Current Police Criminal Record Clearance and Vulnerable Persons Sector Check results

- Are you willing to provide personal assistance including direct physical support in areas such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, toileting, eating, etc.?
- Are you willing to provide Lifestyle supports including meal planning and preparation, banking and budgeting, household management skills, recreation and leisure and accessing community supports.?
- Are you willing to provide emotional support including companionship, developing and maintaining relationships, managing difficult behaviors, teaching coping strategies?
- Are there others living in the residence/home?
