Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative Associate Scientist to join the Experimental Immunology - Biologics Discovery Team at our Amgen British Columbia site. The individual would join a fast-paced team to discover novel antibodies and biological responses. The position would involve processing and cell isolation from primary human tissues; cell culture; the optimization and execution of novel screens and assay development. Well-suited applicant will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment. This individual will also have a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Processing and cell isolation from primary human tissues
- Sample tracking and management as part of maintaining a tissue biobank
- Setting up, processing, and analyzing cell culture experiments; maintenance of cell cultures
- Optimization and execution of novel drug screens and assay development
- Frequent communication within the Experimental Immunology team, and other teams at the site
- Data compilation and presentation at internal meetings

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry

Preferred Qualifications:

- 1+ years of scientific laboratory experience
- Experience in tissue processing protocols and sample tracking/management
- Performance of routine aspects of mammalian cell culture such as thawing, cryopreservation, and maintenance of cell lines using aseptic techniques
- Ability to run, optimize and troubleshoot for functional assays (ELISA, flow cytometry, and cellular imaging)
- Strong scientific communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills
- Organization skills and great attention to detail
- Experience with data collection, analysis, reporting and tracking for collaborative team-based research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
