Associate - Molecular Biology (12-month contract)

**What you will do**

Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking a collaborative Associate to join the Discovery Protein Science (DPS) group at our Burnaby British Columbia site. DPS is responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground-breaking modalities.

You will be a part of a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in de novo design, molecular engineering, molecular biology, expression, and purification of proteins, including antibodies, multispecifics, and membrane proteins.
- You will be responsible for generating DNA constructs for immunization, protein expression and assays against therapeutic targets, handing off DNA preps to downstream users including cell biologists, protein biochemists and other colleagues in Discovery Protein Science.
- You will have experience performing independent research in a molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory, deep scientific curiosity, and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

**Basic Qualifications**:
**Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years lab experience**:
**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology (or a related field), with at least 2 years experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting or Master’s degree in molecular biology (or a related field) in an academic or industrial laboratory setting.
- Broad training in cloning techniques
- Experience with molecular biology software such as Geneious
- Strong interest in automation and high throughput cloning.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to focus.
- Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross functional environment.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in Canada is 63,000 CAD - 71,000 CAD.
