Maintenance Worker

This position is responsible for regularly monitoring, maintaining and proficiently completing assigned tasks within the maintenance department to support all Columbia International College (CIC) managed buildings and leased properties. The **Maintenance Worker **is also responsible for basic upkeep duties, providing outstanding client service and ensuring attention to detail with excellent results in a quick and efficient manner.
**Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Completing basic tasks including, but not limited to: clean up; moving and assembling of furniture; changing lights, doors and windows; changing ceiling tiles; painting; pool monitoring and work on special projects as assigned.
- Responding promptly, courteously and appropriately to staff requests for services issued using the ticket system, and completing any requests in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Ensuring the school buildings and residences are in move-in condition and ready for new student residents at least 24 hours prior to arrival.
- Communicating with the Maintenance Supervisor for needed advice, product information, and quality assurance guidance, including the overall condition of the furnishings and state of the facilities of all buildings.
- Interacting with students and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable provincial and federal labour relations regulations, as well as health and safety adherence.
- General grounds keeping duties as needed, including coordinating of cleaning, snow removal and landscaping operations.
- Must be available on some weekends as required.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Represent CIC in a professional manner.
- Communicate proficiently; must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
- Commitment to obtaining additional qualifications or licenses as required.
- Possess a Class G driver's license
**Specific Job Skills**:
- Ability and knowledge in operating power tools, hand tools, and other tools required to assist with completion of required tasks.
- Must be able to use mobile technology
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Decision-making ability.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Post-secondary diploma in a facet of building services is an asset.
- 2+ years of previous related experience is an asset.
- Positive attitude leveraging initiative to approach situations proactively.
- Able to multitask, take direction and follow up with supervisor as tasks are completed.
**Hours of Work**
- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs
