**What you will do**:
Reporting to Manager, Wastewater Operations and Maintenance in the City Utilities division, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Schedule, coordinate, prioritize, organize and supervise the day-to-day operations of wastewater program activities.
- Supervise the day-to-day field activities of the wastewater crew and work with the Supervisor, Water Operations and Maintenance on scheduling to ensure cross-training and full utilization of staff resources.
- Supervise activities to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry of Environment regulations, policies, procedures and specifications.
- Supervise, train and develop operational staff to provide outstanding service delivery.
- Lead the Emergency Black Pipe Replacement program and take lead on planning/organizing wastewater related construction works in coordination with the Supervisor, Stormwater Operations and Maintenance.
- Creation and maintenance of work orders to ensure effective documentation of all work carried out by both City and external staff.
- Work closely with Compliance and Programs team members to develop, maintain and implement Wastewater Quality Management System and Operational Plan.
- Coordinate with vendors and/or other divisions regarding the availability of wastewater staff for providing oversight or support.
- Lead departmental inspection programs and coordinate with other divisions on capital projects.
- Responsible for spills response and associated protocols.
- Assist with preparation of Standard Operating Procedures for various operational activities.
- Support equipment purchasing, service invoicing and related financial matters.
- Remain apprised of new technologies and practices in wastewater systems maintenance and operations through continuing education opportunities.
- Provide outstanding customer service to deal efficiently and effectively with City staff, external agencies, consultants, contractors and the public.
- Provide support in equipment purchasing, service invoicing and related financial matters.
- Provide recommendations to the Manager on recruitment, hiring, and related Human Resource considerations.
- Assist with the management of the After-Hours Emergency Response Program.
- Assist Manager with various activities and programs.
- Act as Operator in Charge (OIC) and/or Overall Responsible Operator as required
