Wastewater Operator

Responsibilities:
- Operate a privately owned wastewater treatment facility, Monday to Friday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm.
- The position is for 8 weeks, plus 1 week of training as required.
- Monitor the wastewater system and treated water through an on-site remote office cubicle, as well as performing hourly in person checks and inspections of the system.
- The in person checks and inspections include: ensuring instrumentation is operational, cleaning instrumentation, and minor preventative maintenance.
- Changes to the system will be completed at the on-site office cubicle and would include: chemical treatment dosing, adjusting flow rates, speed of treatment and flocculation (solids) removal.
- The applicant is to take pride in providing the community with clean water, which is relied upon on every day.
Qualifications:
- College diploma in environmental studies, planning, chemistry or related field, or show a history of wastewater treatment and/or chemistry knowledge.
- Strong communication, report writing, organization and interpersonal skills.
- Applicants must be comfortable working independently as well as collaborating with management to discuss and debrief results and any issues that arose. The applicant will also be conveying information to the shift supervisor when required.
- Applicant must be comfortable operating a computer and such programs required to operate the wastewater treatment system.
- The applicant must be confident with observations and changes required to operate the system.
- Physically fit.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License to commute to and from the location.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
