**Job Summary**

The Communications Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing internal and external communication support to Hospice Quinte, including content creation, social and digital media communications and event coordination.

This position will provide social media, graphic design, and communications support in relation to a variety of programs and both internal and external stakeholders. This includes representing Hospice Quinte on social media networks and various other communications channels, both digital and traditional, media and public relations, and support to the Hospice Quinte Board.

**Qualifications**

**Education**

Graduate from a recognized university or college with a degree/diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related professional experience

**Experience**

1-3 years of experience in a similar role

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content; excellent grammar skills

Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team

Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Ability to multi-task and set priorities with a sense of urgency to achieve goals

Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high level of accuracy

Experience in social, digital, video, traditional, and new media

Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite of Products (including Publisher), Canva, WordPress, Constant Contact, and social media content management systems

Excellent analytical, organizational, administrative, and time management skills

Ability to work independently and with supervision

Understanding of communications, public relations, and marketing best practices

Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given mínimal direction

Experience with audio and video editing an asset

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work

**Key Responsibilities**

Under the direction, and in cooperation and consultation with the Executive Director perform the following:
**External Communications**

Develop and deliver a communications plan supporting the Hospice Quinte strategic plan, covering the entire spectrum of communication disciplines including media and public relations, internal communications, written material of all kinds, brand marketing, advertising, digital and social media, and production of communications collateral (posters, trade show materials, promotional materials, etc.)

Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns

Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards

Develop key messages and create and maintain appropriate and consistent language and terminology across all media

Develop and maintain an understanding of Hospice Quinte’s individual stakeholder groups and create and implement communications campaigns with targeted, compelling messaging

Work with the Executive Director to respond to situations that require communications/media guidance

Advise the Executive Director on communications opportunities and risks

Manage website and coordinate social media

Writing and voicing podcasts and producing videos

Maintain media and external stakeholders contact list

Coordinate events as required

**Executive and Internal Communications**

Take and maintain accurate minutes at meetings (board, committee, staff, and others)

Prepare briefing notes, reports, speeches, and other written documents

**Volunteer Coordination**

Coordinate volunteers as required for events or other communications or program related activities

**Organizational Responsibilities**

Participate and contribute to encourage and support activities which promote effective team functioning throughout Hospice Quinte

Participate in assigned Hospice Quinte activities, events, and committees

Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with staff, volunteers, clients, and members of the community

Attend meetings, conferences, and training as required

**Working Conditions**

35-hour work week with the flexibility to work some weekends and evenings, for which time off in lieu will be given with the approval of the Executive Director

Work location is at Hospice Quinte’s Stan Klemencic Care Centre with some provision for remote work with approval of the Executive Director

Position starts with 15 days of vacation each fiscal year

Position has 10 sick leave days available each fiscal year
