**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Lead is pivotal in developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives that enhance the college’s visibility and engagement. This role involves collaborating with the marketing and communications team to develop compelling narratives and ensure that communication strategies align with the college's enrolment trends and broader objectives. The Communications Lead is responsible for coordinating and assigning tasks within the team, maintaining consistency, and high quality across all external and internal communications. By leveraging various platforms, this role effectively reaches and resonates with both local and global audiences, supporting Loyalist College’s mission and goals.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Event Planning and Execution Support**
- **
Strategic Storytelling**: Lead the crafting and dissemination of compelling narratives that highlight the college’s achievements, initiatives, and the unique aspects of its community, ensuring stories are aligned with Loyalist College’s strategic goals and resonate across various media platforms.
- ** Media Relations and Press Releases**: Develop and maintain strong relationships with media outlets; oversee the creation and distribution of press releases and media kits to enhance the college's visibility and public image.
- ** Social Media Strategy**: Lead the development and execution of social media strategies across multiple channels, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding.
- ** Research and Strategic Analysis**: Conduct research on communication trends and analyze data to inform strategic planning.
- ** Team Coordination**: Coordinate daily activities with Communications Officers and other team members, ensuring coverage and timely completion of projects while mentoring team members to enhance their professional skills.
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of a three (3) year diploma or degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in a communications role, with a strong focus on media relations and social media.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms.
- Excellent communication skills to best support a variety of customers and needs; a student-focused individual, understanding, compassionate, and accepting of a diverse set of stakeholder groups
- Excellent proven problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and individually with mínimal supervision.
- Occasional evenings and weekends required
- Occasional travel to other Loyalist College Locations required
