**Position Details**
- The School of Liberal Education is hiring two GTAs for the Fall 2025 term. Each GTA will work 56 hours in the term, supporting either LBED 1000 or LBED 1500, as well as leading a lab section of LBED 1000.

LBED 1000
Attend every lecture class and weekly meetings. Using class material, prepare for and facilitate discussion among undergraduates in a weekly peer discussion session. This will entail considering the lecture material, the student’s level of engagement, and the weekly meeting with the instructor and other TAs to develop strategies to engage the students in discussion of the week’s topic. You are responsible for tracking student attendance and assessing their engagement, providing a grade to the instructor at the end of the semester.
Hours: MWF 8:00-8:50, weekly meeting TBA

LBED 1500
The TA will be assigned a team of 6-8 students and, over the course of the semester, will act as a mentor, guide, and facilitator for your team over a variety of class activities and assignments. Several times over the semester you will lead your team in discussing a topic or learning activity. You will be required to attend every class and a weekly meeting with the instructor and other TAs. Your role includes helping students meet the learning goals for the course and develop skills in navigating and succeeding in academic setting. You will be expected to monitor your team’s progress and assist the instructor in grading final projects for the course.
Hours: MWF 11:00-11:50, weekly meeting TBA

LAB SECTION
Both positions will also lead one lab section, once a week, on academic success skills like study techniques, academic writing, active reading, and critical thinking. You will teach one hour a week for eight weeks and, with assistance and guidance from the instructor, develop interactive and engaging workshop material for each week.
Hours: T 1:00-1:50 or 2:00-2:50

Qualifications:

- Excellent verbal communication skills and comfortable with speaking in front of groups of people.
- Understanding of challenges faced by diverse first year students attending the University of Lethbridge.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to articulate the principles of liberal education.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Comfort with examining and discussing challenging social, political, cultural, and academic issues.
- Comfortable with managing diverse educational needs among groups of people.
- People management and conflict resolution skills would be an asset.
