The Position:
The Event Assistant will report directly to the Director of Development and will be integral to a successful major annual event at AdaptAbilities. The Event Assistant will have a thorough understanding of AdaptAbilities programs, vision and brand. This position is responsible for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion of the event. As a conscientious Event Assistant, you will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with special needs and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on planning, execution, and follow up of a major annual event
- Provide administrative and project support for a major annual event
- Performing general duties including data entry, filing, and photocopying
- Event registration, operations, set up and clean up
- Perform other job-related activities as required

**Qualifications**:

- Certificate, Diploma or completion of two years (toward a Bachelor’s Degree) in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Development, Sales or related field
- 1+ years’ experience working in fund development or communications (preferred)
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Great phone, computer, public relations, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Previous work in a non-profit organization is an asset
- Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, temporary position from April 28, 2025 to August 15, 2025. The start date for this position is flexible between April 28 and 30, 2025 and this position is a 16-week contract. The position is based out of our Support Office and shifts are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant (CSJG), which requires that the employee must be legally entitled to work in Canada and between the ages of 15-30. International students are not eligible.

Compensation $19.47 to $20.56/ hour depending on experience and education
