Design and Development Assistant

As the Design & Development Assistant, you support the Product Creation Team in their quest to consistently deliver the best possible product to market. We are a small, dedicated and talented team that works on all aspects of product creation from materials development, to product design, to line management, to colour and beyond.

A technical background, an aptitude for teamwork/collaboration, strong communication skills and a drive for detail and accuracy will be key to success in this position.

This position will be full time permanent (pending successful completion of probationary period) and will report to Sr. Product Design and Development Manager. This role will be based out of the Karbon Head Office in Concord, Ontario, and is performed primarily on site.

CORE ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist the Product Creation Team with all aspects of product development, including the creation and maintenance of tech packs, product specs and other documentation
- Review & measure samples at all stages of development, recording notes according to design, fit workmanship, and general quality specifications
- Establish and manage a system for organization and tracking of samples (current and archive)
- Organizing Design/Development resources and reference materials (materials libraries, fabric hangers & trims books from vendors, etc)
- Support with logístical coordination involved in the development process
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of samples (including both full garments and materials, parts & components)
- Assist in creation of assets and collateral materials for various presentations and meetings
- Other tasks and duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Graduate with College/University education, 1 to 2 year experience in Apparel Design and Development/ Manufacturing / Merchandising
- Strong knowledge of technical garment construction & materials, fit, features and function
- Experience with offshore development, manufacturing and vendor communications would be an asset
