Our client, based in Coaldale, AB, is looking for a full-time, skilled, and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead their accounting department and promote collaboration across teams The Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and work closely with other departments to streamline financial processes. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial insights effectively are essential for success in this role.

**Financial Management & Reporting**:

- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and investments.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and tax filings.
- Oversee project accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs and profitability.
- Implement and maintain financial software systems and tools.
- Prepare and submit loan drawdown documents for construction projects.

**Team Leadership & Management**:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Ensure the team adheres to established policies and procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage team development.

**Strategic Planning & Compliance**:

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the firm's goals.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and tax laws.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in financial management.
- Assist in the development of pricing strategies and contract negotiations.

**Qualifications**:

- A diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Connecteam, Procore).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of project accounting and cost control.
