Summary:
Within the context of a patient and family-centered model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care (PHC), promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment.
Reporting to the Manager, Medical Imaging, the Nuclear Medicine (NM) Site Radiation Safety Officer (SRSO) / Clinical Educator/Instructor works in a team-based environment and is responsible for administering and maintaining the NM radiation protection program at Providence Health Care, clinical education and clinical instruction for NM and the interdisciplinary team including Nuclear Medicine and other professions.
The SRSO will ensure that all activities involving radiation sources such as ionizing substances, and radiation emitting devices, are conducted in accordance with applicable policies and procedures that comply with federal and provincial regulations. Ensures the NM department is compliant with all Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Acts and Regulations as well as applicable Provincial and Federal regulations related to nuclear safety (e.g. WorkSafe BC, Transport Canada). Liaises with regulatory agencies and maintains the diagnostic, therapeutic and processing licenses for the department and leads the CNSC license and annual compliance report submissions. This includes monitoring and auditing compliance with regulations for licensing, the inspection of radiation equipment, and the investigation of radiation related incidents. The SRSO conducts internal audits of practice, promotes a culture of radiation safety and leads the development of safe practices on radiation safety matters.
The position is also responsible and accountable for the development, planning and delivery of clinical/technical and radiation safety education programs for NM and affiliated staff, and administration of the student training program for the profession through the identification of educational needs, development and provision of educational content, and accountability for learning outcomes.
What You Bring:
**Education**:
Successful completion of a recognized Nuclear Medicine program. Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Nuclear Medicine. Eligible for certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine. Three (3) years' recent, related clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine including completion of a professional instructional program and recent experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities and experience mentoring staff and/or students, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Completion of a Radiation Safety Officer course from a recognized program applicable for the use of radioactive materials under CNSC regulations. Completion or eligibility for applicable professional designation (e.g., CRPA

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Demonstrates expert technical knowledge of Nuclear Medicine, Medical Imaging and Radiation Safety science, theory, and practice.
- Broad knowledge of radio-pharmacy dispensing and radiation safety within a client and family centred care model.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CNSC regulations.
- Demonstrated skill in Nuclear Medicine techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrated computer skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT.
- Ability to integrate best practice knowledge to support professional practice decisions and actions.
