We're looking for Nuclear Medicine Technologists to join our team and help deliver safe, accurate, and patient-focused nuclear medicine services

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist 1 performs
- Diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with departmental policies.
- Preparing patients for examination, operating nuclear medicine equipment, monitoring patient during procedures, preparing and dispensing and administering radiopharmaceuticals.
- Routine quality control tests on imaging equipment, monitors area utilizing appropriate detection devices and disposes of radioactive substances and contaminated items by following established guidelines.
Education
- Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine).
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
- Graduation from an approved nuclear medicine technology diploma program.
- One year recent, related nuclear medicine experience.
Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day
- Performs a full range of nuclear medicine imaging by reviewing clinical history, explaining procedures, positioning patients, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and operating imaging and counting equipment
- Provides comprehensive patient care before, during, and after examinations, including monitoring vital signs, IVs, oxygen delivery, ECGs, and responding to emergencies (including CPR as required)
- Prepares, administers, and performs quality control on diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals under aseptic conditions, completing all required documentation
- Prepares, dispenses, administers, and performs quality control on therapeutic radioactive agents in accordance with established protocols and policies
- Safely receives, stores, monitors, and disposes of radioactive materials, following licensing requirements and ALARA radiation safety principles
- Performs non-imaging in vivo and in vitro nuclear medicine procedures, including blood collection, labelling techniques, and administration of labelled blood products
- Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to radiation safety, OH&S, infection control standards, incident reporting requirements, and maintaining current CPR and TDG certification
