These are unprecedented times in healthcare and the COVID-19 pandemic has created a need for a** Dispatch Assistant** to support our **Materials Management department** at Mount Sinai Hospital.

An integral member of Materials Management, the Dispatch Assistant must perform all duties in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Responsible for the daily replenishment/distribution of stock items to Nursing, Clinical and Support areas. Required to use state of the art technologies to count inventory in designated locations each day, entering counts from pre-established quotas to determine order quantities, transmitting orders via scanner technology to the offsite warehouse, putting away stock in a timely manner, responding to emergency calls from Nursing units, performing all duties in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, performing cross functional duties as assigned and/or required, performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required, may be required to perform Receiver duties on an as needed bases (eg. vacation, sick, coverage)
- Responsibility for daily cart replenishment/distribution of items distributed through the stockless program.
- Monitors cart activity and reports deficiencies, eg missing barcodes, rapidly depleting quotas, item errors etc. to Management
- Maintains clean, organized and properly labeled carts.
- Ensures stock items are rotated, to reduce potential of obsolesce and expiry
- Transfer stock between carts to ensure no stock out; report same to Supervisor MM
- Responsibility for ensuring that supplies received from the warehouse are marshaled correctly prior to delivery to the floors.
- Reviews quantities received against quantities ordered, check discrepancies, shortages, over shipments or breakage, following established procedures and reports discrepancies to Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ensures empty carts, skids and totes are returned to Central Stores for return to offsite warehouse, including removing and returning recycling to approved cart
- Exercise safe handling/transport of goods throughout the Hospital
- Other duties as required by Manager
- Job Requirements- Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma required
- 1 year of recent and related experience required
- Experience with inventory distribution and replenishment required
- Experience with Medical/Surgical Supplies preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and read using English in order to effectively perform the requirements of the position
- Ability to use equipment common to the work being performed such as computerized inventory systems, scanner technology, photocopier and telephone, etc.
- Ability to adapt to technological changes to perform job function
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to push carts up to 500lbs
- Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
- Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
- Client service oriented, with ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds, and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
