Under the direction of the Supervisor, Events & Mulock Park, the Program Coordinator - Events assists the Community Events Programmer, Special Event Leads, Mulock Park Programmer, and Supervisor, Culture Services with the development, implementation, execution, monitoring and evaluation of programs and events including supervising and coaching part-time staff and volunteers. This role will assist the Events teams to increase awareness and encourage community participation in programs and events at the Town’s event facilities.

Job Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma in Recreation or a directly related field combined with 2 or more years’ experience working in recreation programs or equivalent experience.
- Advanced demonstrated effective leadership in recreation planning/programming (i.e. events, culture, etc.) that includes supervision of staff.
- Experience in recruitment and selection procedures, payroll processes and e-recruit software.
- Knowledge and experience coordinating activities and events both indoors and outdoors.
- Strong customer service skills with an ability to maintain composure regardless of the demands of the environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, public relations, organizational and supervisory skills.
- Experience and strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with the various pieces of legislation that govern bookings and special community events including, but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Public Health Act, Corporate Standards bylaw, Municipal Alcohol Policy, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Employment Standards Act, and Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
- Working knowledge of Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO), Central Counties Tourism, community event planning and administration models and best practices, municipal recreation and culture program/service delivery.
- Meet the physical effort requirements of the position: be able to assist with loading/unloading of event equipment (e.g. canopies, weights, signage, storage bins, stanchions etc.), work outdoors in many types of weather.
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention or Safe Management certification or equivalent is an asset.
- Class G Driver’s Licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
- Availability/flexibility to work evenings, weekends, special events, and at different sites of which 50% - 70% of time is during evenings and weekends.
