**Position summary**:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated health professional to contribute to our organizational mission of working with our communities to promote and protect health and prevent disease.

Reporting to the Manager, the Program Assistant will assist staff in the delivery of programs, by providing support to the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs, services and projects as directed by the Ontario Public Health Standards.

This position requires graphic design skills. Only applicants who have Adobe Creative Suite experience, background in marketing, graphic design, social media, and/or web design will be considered.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides support to the team/program in activities related to the accomplishment of the Ontario Public Health Standards.
- Maintains current program and team resources and promotional materials (e.g. reports, pamphlets, handouts, factsheets, presentations, website/Intranet materials, etc.) by designing, updating, proofreading, publishing and reordering, in collaboration with appropriate staff as required.
- Supports, in conjunction with staff, volunteers and community partners, the development and delivery of various program deliverables (i.e. meetings, displays, presentations, campaigns, newsletters, etc.).
- Provides guidance and support to students.
- Acts as resource person to the organization and the community.
- Attends and actively participates in team meetings/program planning, and training sessions.
- Provides, in consultation with staff and stakeholders, event planning activities such as provision and/or preparation of support materials, marketing and media coverage and event logistics.
- Maintains current membership and distribution lists (including community contacts) to support program delivery (team mail-outs/activities).
- Generates and maintains event calendars, team bookings and resource directories.
- Facilitates and completes all logistics for program related media in consultation with the team (i.e. writing purchase orders, booking time slots, coordinating the internal communication approval processes to ensure timelines are met).
- Stocks, maintains and keeps accurate inventory of supplies, equipment and program resources. Initiates process for team review to ensure supplies, equipment maintained in storage are kept up to date.
- Organizes, tracks, reorders and disseminates pamphlets and other resources for the organization’s main lobbies, external agencies, etc.
- Provides back-up coverage, per established practice, for other program assistants within their division.
- Provides support for the development of program plans.
- Assists with the development, planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of assigned projects in consultation with the manager and other team members as required.
- Participates in the orientation of staff, students, volunteers and others as may be required for the position.
- Provides input into the budget process, upon request.
- Conducts assignments in a fiscally responsible fashion.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary diploma and training in graphic design, marketing, or related field.
- Design of marketing/promotional materials in various formats (e.g. website, paper, electronic).
- Two years related experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing layouts, designs, illustrative/graphic artwork, and formats for use in publications.
- Advanced formatting and design skills that meet legislative requirements (e.g. Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and design/clear language principles).
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is essential.
- Oral and written proficiency in French is an asset.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines of the position.
- Highly developed attention to detail.
- Highly developed organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Current Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
