Ottawa, Canada OCM Manufacturing Inc. Full time

OCM Manufacturing is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to lead and work alongside our accounting team. As OCM’s Accounting Manager you are an enthusiastic, lead-by-example team player with a keen eye for detail. You will direct, manage and coordinate the provision of required general accounting and financial reporting services and in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements.

Scope & Responsibilities:
Interpret company goals into department goals and ensure communication to employees.

Develop and ensure implementation of policies, procedures and quality standards for maintenance of company financial accounting policies and systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards. Monitor to ensure compliance.

Direct subordinates responsible for accounting activities such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, credit and collection, general ledger, bank deposits, month end summaries, and the like, in a manner that ensures integrity of accounting practice and protects the company's financial assets.

Analyze financial data and produce regular periodic reports for management on operational financial results. Prepare required government returns and other reports as required.

Approve exceptions to policy after review and in-depth evaluation of various factors. Identify whether such approval requires review by senior management.

Plan and ensure optimum use of resources; administer and monitor use against budget.

Participate in shareholder relations activities, general financial planning and funds management, as required.

Develop business case for recommendation to senior management on changed corporate policies, technological approaches or business sector focus.

Facilitate and ensure individual and team roles and responsibilities are understood; performance measurement objectives are identified, measured and monitored on an on-going basis in order to provide positive feedback on accomplishments and to ensure immediate action is taken to address shortfalls.

Month end processes (requires some after hour remote work due to live Manufacturing data base)

Year End processes (requires some after hour remote work due to live Manufacturing data base)

Knowledge of manufacturing cost processes - job costing and allocation

Inventory costing - checking for errors in part costing/utilizing inventory app in order to locate and then correct costing errors.

Ensure awareness of and compliance to all applicable employment, environmental, health and safety legislation.

Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a Financial Management related discipline or equivalent, and
- 8 - 10 years (minimum) experience in general corporate accounting along with 2 - 4 years supervisory experience.
- Broad knowledge of and ongoing awareness of accounting principles and government regulations governing business accounting and taxation rules.
- May require similar awareness of international financial statutes.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
- Financial software tools.
