Payroll Specialist

NOTE: This position is a contract position lasting between 16 to 18 months.
Reporting to the Controller, Accounting, this individual will be responsible for processing payroll for Canadian, Unionized, and USA employees. This individual will communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy of all payroll reports.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Ø Union payroll
Ø Office payroll
Ø USA payroll
Ø Vacation and sick days tracking
Ø Benefits for Canada
Ø Benefits for USA
Ø Union Dues
Ø Yearly union rate change
Ø Keeping track of apprentice hours and sending to JAC when required
Ø Adding hours sent by JAC for apprentices and switching them to next term
Ø Year End T4’s, WSIB, EHT
Ø General Ledger for union, office and US
Ø Letters of employment
Ø Keeping track of study and work permit employees
Ø Keeping track of probationary employees
Ø Form 7 for safety
Ø Yearly apprentice report sent to government
Ø Creating cost codes and maintaining cost code breakdown
Ø Costing for USA and Canada
Ø Bank payments
Ø T2200
Ø The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
**EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**:
Ø Strong administration and organizational skills.
Ø Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ø Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
Ø Ability to interface with all levels of staff in a professional manner.
**TRAVEL**:
Ø 0-10 % travel may be required for this position.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Ø In office conditions: Sitting for long periods of time, low levels of noise, regular lighting. Temperature can be adjusted as per employee’s preference with the use of fans or heaters.
Ø On site conditions: Walking or on your feet for long periods of time, high levels of noise, weather and temperature can vary depending on season, mainly outdoors.
