Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation this position is responsible for planning, and managing the implementation of the Milton Youth Strategy, working closely with the Milton Youth Task Force and the Milton Youth Friendly Network. This role directly supervises part-time staff and volunteers in the day-to-day delivery of youth spaces, recreational programs and services, ensuring their safe and accessible delivery and administration for the Town of Milton. This position also works as part of the Children & Youth team, taking on varied responsibilities to support team members during peak seasons.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Leads the planning, delivery, and evaluation of recommendations presented in the Milton Youth Strategy and works with staff and external stakeholders to achieve intended outcomes. Identifies areas where other leads are appropriate within the Community Services department.
- Oversees the activities of the Milton Youth Task Force; taking the lead in the recruitment and supervision of volunteers, and the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of all action plans including content creation and management for the Milton Youth Task Force social media channels.
- Provides leadership to the Milton Youth Friendly Network to sustain and build their activities and cohesion; attends and supports community events and initiatives.
- Accountable for the maintenance of official records related to the Milton Youth Strategy, the Milton Youth Task Force, and the Milton Youth Friendly Network.
- Builds and maintains relationships with local community organizations, regional service providers, and community agencies that provide recreation and cultural programs and services to understand community needs.
- Leads community development and associated policy requirements; includes development of task groups, special interest groups, community engagement initiatives and grant writing.
- Plans and supervises spaces and recreational programs for Youth including: program development, program staffing, and administration of programs in the Town’s recreation software system, with the ability to remain agile and adapt to changing portfolio and customer demands as Community programs evolve.
- Supervises part-time staff and volunteers in the areas of recruiting, on-boarding, training, scheduling, coaching and development, payroll completion, and performance evaluation.
- Conducts regular meetings and trainings related to youth, to ensure policies and procedures are communicated, quality standards are maintained, and feedback is solicited from staff.
- Prepares and monitors program area budget for supervisor approval and inputs into budget system.
- Maintains ongoing communication with program, facility, and customer service staff to ensure a high level of team efficiency and support in serving youth.

**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation & Leisure, Child & Youth Care, Social Work or a related field
- Minimum three (3) years progressive supervisory experience in a municipal or recreational setting; supervisory experience of a team of 15+ part-time staff while in a full-time capacity preferred
- Three (3) years of experience in a recreation community development capacity and demonstrated success working with volunteer groups and organizations
- Experience working with youth, minorities and underrepresented communities
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development required
- HIGH FIVE® Trainer considered an asset
- Developmental Assets® training considered an asset
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Proficiency in Recreation Management Software (Xplor PerfectMind preferred)

**Annual Salary**: $68,107 - $85,134 (based on a 35-hour work week)
