Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation Programs this position is responsible for the safe and accessible delivery and administration of recreation programs and services for the Town of Milton, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. This role directly supervises part-time staff in the day-to-day delivery of recreation programs and services within the sports portfolio, with specific focus on sports programs at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (MNCC), outdoor sports/recreation, pickleball, and indoor walking tracks.
**Major Job Responsibilities**:
- Plans and implements recreation programs related to sports, including outdoor sports and outdoor recreation programs, including: program development, program staffing, and administration of programs in the Town’s recreation software system, with the ability to remain agile and adapt to changing portfolio and customer demands as Community programs evolve.
- Supervises part-time staff and volunteer team including; recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching and development, payroll completion, and evaluation of part-time staff and volunteers.
- Conducts regular staff meetings and trainings to ensure policies and procedures are communicated, quality standards are maintained, and feedback is solicited from staff
- Monitors participation levels, customer requests and customer satisfaction in order to anticipate community needs to guide programming decisions and proactively address potential concerns before they arise.
- Act as the Town’s primary pickleball liaison, including supporting and enhancing Town-led pickleball programs and liaising with the Milton Pickleball Association.
- Maintains ongoing communication with program, facility, and customer service staff to maintain a high level of team efficiency
- Provide day-to-day supervision of MNCC fitness centre in support of the Coordinator, Recreation - Active Living, including responding to customer questions and concerns, supervising and supporting part-time fitness staff, and assisting with fitness centre operations.
- Leads related programs and classes when required
**Education and Experience**:
- Post-secondary diploma in Recreation & Leisure or a related field
- Minimum three (3) years progressive supervisory experience in a municipal or recreational setting; supervisory experience of a team of 15+ part-time staff while in a full-time capacity preferred
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development
- HIGH FIVE Trainer and Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid Instructor considered an asset
- Physical Literacy Training or National Coaching Certification Program certification considered an asset
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Proficiency in Recreation Management Software (PerfectMind preferred)
**Annual Salary**: $68,107 - $85,134 (based on a 35-hour work week)
