We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the position of Estimator, Residential.
The Estimator will focus on mid/high-rise projects and will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects and providing detailed proposals to clients. Expertise in project management, negotiation, and construction estimating will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects and supporting other team members.
**The duties and responsibilities of this role include**:
- Follow and consistently demonstrate our company Core Values
- Develop conceptual estimates for construction management projects
- Develop Class D, C, B and A estimates throughout the construction management process
- Produce takeoffs needed to complete each stage of budgeting
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
- Attend regular design meetings and complete cost analysis exercises
- Perform in-depth drawing reviews at drawing release stages
- Assemble and present value engineering proposals
- Maintain and expand supplier database
- Utilize industry software such as ProEst, Building Connected, Bluebeam, Excel, RocTek and Procore
- Prepare scopes of work and bidders lists for tender
- Coordinate and attend scope review meetings in conjunction with Project Managers
- Assist in developing the finalized scope and negotiation process
- Assemble tender analysis sheets for each division for the buy-out process
- Prepare comprehensive proposals that outline project timelines, costs, and deliverables
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments to estimates as needed
- Conduct regular site visits and maintain communication with the construction team to ensure any missed items or constructability issues are documented and captured for future tenders
- Perform periodic budget reviews
- Assemble a list of lessons learned on a quarterly basis
- Understand and navigate the Newstar ERP software and process
- Provide assistance to the low-rise estimator(s) as required
**The Estimator we seek will have the following**:
- Minimum of 5 years of construction estimating experience in the residential sector
- Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field
- High professional integrity, positive disposition, outstanding team spirit and a passion for excellence
- Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
- Proficiency in Auto Desk, Newstar Constellation, and Procore would be an asset
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable contracts with clients and subcontractors
- In-depth knowledge of construction estimating principles and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and associated reports
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate cost calculations
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present estimates and proposals to clients
- A valid class G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
