**Job Summary**

The Field Service Technician (FST) will be responsible for supporting general packaging automation and inspection technologies, providing both remote (phone) and on-site support for Plan Automation’s customer base. Tasks would include commissioning and start-up of manufacturing equipment as well as perform functional confirmation, test and repair of equipment on-site. Equipment includes but may not be limited to a variety of automated product packaging and inspection machines and lines. The FST will be responsible for addressing customer issues and providing Service Department products in a professional and safe manner. The FST will further perform installations to specifications agreed to by Plan and their customer as well as provide start-up, operating and maintenance training to customers on equipment.

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**
- Address all PLAN Automation client technical service requirements by providing both remote and direct on-site technical support during daytime and after-hours including weekends as required and scheduled
- Provide technical field support for Plan’s primary product lines including installation, commissioning, training, certification, troubleshooting, client demonstrations, product testing, etc.
- Provide Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI), equipment evaluations, Service Department products to customers
- Assist in sourcing, providing and integrating new solutions for customers and their equipment including light fabrication as required
- Generate technical, training and instructive documentation as required including but not limited to schematic diagrams, mechanical sketches/drawings, training manuals and presentations, etc.
- Working in a safe and professional manner at all times
- Effective communication with the Plan Automation team, it’s external partners and customers
- Complete all required service report information within 72hrs of site visit
- Travel as required within Canada, and in the future the US and internationally for purposes of training and servicing Plan Automation’s customer base
- Continuous learning and sharing of knowledge

**Skills and Requirements**:

- College or Technical education in electro-mechanical and pneumatic system and/or equivalent experience in electronics/electrical, experience in secondary disciplines is extremely helpful. Ie. for someone trained in mechanical work, some electrical/electronic experience is helpful.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Light Fabrication skills, welding an asset PLC Programming experience an asset, specifically familiarity with Allen-Bradley and B&R Automation PLCs
- Servo drives
- Familiarity with computer networking (TCP/IP) is an asset
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid Driver’s license and vehicle in good working condition
- Valid passport for future international work
- Strong customer relations, written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision and independently at client sites
- Ability to pick up fresh concepts quickly and self-educate using provided materials
- Ability and availability to travel, often at short notice
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to innovate, plan and implement technical solutions on-site
- Flexibility with schedule (early starts and late ending days and/or weekends)
