**Position Type**: Full time
**Reports to**: Community and Client Relations Manager
**Schedule**:Days & Every other weekend
**Position Description**: As a vital member of the organization, the Programs and Physiotherapy Assistant will support the Seniors Day Out Program and other offsite programs in the community, connecting with residents one to one to carry out physical treatment at St. Andrew’s Residence, and working alongside our Activity Department. While maintaining confidentiality, you will deliver friendly, efficient customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all of our guests and clients in accordance with St. Andrew’s Residence’s vision, mission and values statements.
- Identify needs of residents and clients and consequently organize and provide craft, recreation, physical fitness, therapeutic and cognitive stimulation programs for individuals, small and large groups accordingly; be innovative in adapting these activities to meet the special needs of individual residents.
- Provide recreation and activation services to support and foster the resident’s quality of life.
- Support with resident and client transportation to appointments and programs
- Work closely with the healthcare team to develop care plans to strengthen and build resident confidence.
- Identify needs of residents and clients and consequently organize and provide craft, recreation, physical fitness, therapeutic and cognitive stimulation programs for individuals, small and large groups accordingly; be innovative in adapting these activities to meet the special needs of individual residents.
- Maintain appropriate departmental records including assessments, resident activity response and feedback detailing anticipated individual participation; maintain awareness of resident conditions and identify changes.
- Assist with organizing a social program that opens the door of the facility to the outside community, thus permitting residents to become a part of the community activity and also to act as a host and extend hospitality to friends and the community.
- Create and distribute daily activity posters and other documentation as needed
- Assisting with planning and implementation of an annual event for residents and their family.
- Assist with strengthening relationships with external partners.
***ADDITIONAL SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS**
- Minimum of Physical Therapist Assistant Diploma or equivalent required.
- Student or graduate of a health services-related program an asset.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting an asset.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with all levels of staff and community.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands at a time.
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License and reliable transportation

- A vulnerable sector Police Background Check
- Negative 2 step TB test
