To further this important work, our Talent Management team is evolving and expanding. As part of this growth, we are currently seeking an Indigenous Talent Management Specialist to join our team.

**Position Highlights**

The Indigenous Talent Management Specialist will be an experienced professional of Indigenous heritage with lived experience and expertise in designing and implementing retention and career development programs specifically for Indigenous peoples.

The Specialist understands the unique challenges, needs, and strengths of this diverse talent pool. They have a sound understanding of Indigenous History and have cultural awareness. They will be dedicated to supporting the retention and career development of Indigenous employees within ICBC.

As a key member of the Talent Management team, the Specialist will be responsible for the design and delivery of career development services specifically supporting Indigenous employees across all business areas, to drive successful delivery and adoption of the ICBC Indigenous Retention strategy.

Reporting to the Manager Talent Management, the Specialist will be focusing on creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that fosters the growth and success of Indigenous talent.

You will also be required to build collaborative relationships with senior leaders across the business, employees, and within HR to integrate career management efforts with other HR processes (e.g., Workforce Planning, Recruiting, Performance Management, Learning & Development, etc.).

Key responsibilities:

- Supports the development and ongoing refinement of the Indigenous Retention strategy and drive the implementation of tactics in support of the strategy.
- Develops and implements programs and tactics to enhance the overall employee experience of Indigenous employees at ICBC with a focus on career development and retention.
- Designs and facilitates career development programs tailored to the unique needs of Indigenous employees upskilling them into management and non-management roles, such as leadership training, mentoring, skill-building workshops, and career planning.
- Promotes cultural competency within the organization by providing training and resources to non-Indigenous employees including leaders, ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Provides one-on-one support and coaching to Indigenous employees, addressing any challenges they may face and helping them navigate their career paths within the organization.
- Monitors and analyses retention and career progression data for Indigenous employees, using insights to inform and improve talent management strategies.
- Serves as an advocate for Indigenous employees, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions are recognized within the organization.
- Collaborates with other HR Teams, ICBC’s Indigenous Relations Department and senior leadership on the design of programs to ensure alignment.
- Acts as the key point of contact for leaders and HR Business Partners throughout the organization, partnering to educate, communicate, and deliver career development services to support Indigenous Employees at ICBC.
- Participates in the budgeting process for Indigenous retention and career planning initiatives and support the Manager Talent Management with portfolio budgeting where necessary.

**Position Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:

- Prior experience designing and implementing retention and career development programs specifically for Indigenous peoples.
- Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and issues.
- Strong connections and partnerships built within Indigenous communities.
- Extensive knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws, particularly those related to Indigenous employment.
- Up to date with best practices in talent management, including recruitment, retention, and career development.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. Human Resources, Leadership and Management, Business Administration, Organizational Behaviour, etc.).
- Experience working within the insurance industry or public sector is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees, management, and external partners.
- Ability to build strong relationships and trust with Indigenous employees and other stakeholders.
