**Job Summary**: Inlailawatash has a crew of Certified Utility Arborists, Apprentice Arborists, and Saw Operators. As the primary contractor for BC Hydro’s (BCH) Transmission Vegetation Management Program the company is responsible for vegetation management (VM). VM consisting of manual tree removals involving both falling and CUA work, brushing, and mechanical mowing) within the North Shore - Pemberton (NSP) BCH’s region. The VM work often incorporates supporting the Inlailawatash partners and its subcontractors. Apart from work for BCH, Inlailawatash VM division often works for other utility companies such as telecommunication or private power providers. VM division of Inlailawatash is often responsible for projects that include Forest Service Road (FSR) maintenance and new road construction.

The Vegetation Management Coordinator reports directly to the VM Manager working along side the Project Lead / Arborist to manage and coordinate all key areas of the Vegetation Management program, including:

- Crew management and organization including crew planning and scheduling.
- BCH contract management support (verification of vegetation management prescriptions, estimating, conducting pre-job meetings, ensuring the optimum use of crews and equipment).
- Oversight and inspections of Inlailawatash and subcontractor crews to ensure work follows technical specifications, arboricultural standards, and current best management practices.
- Ongoing safety and environmental compliance inspections.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Together withProject Lead / Arboristand Manager develops and manages crew schedules, assigns responsibilities and tasks to the crew leads.
- Works with crew leads on an ongoing basis, keeps them up to speed with project requirements and provides constant assistance with logistics ensuring crew safety and efficiency.
- Supports Project Lead / Arboristand Manager in the delivery of BC Hydro transmission vegetation work packages, including: Office desktop review of new work packages to identify priority work; Field visits to review new work packages with assistance from the CUAs; Ongoing site safety and quality inspections of Inlailawatash crews, partners, and subcontractors; Preparation of inspection reports, weekly and quarterly summary reports, and submission to BCH.
- Responsible for running crew trailer, saw shop, and all crew equipment and vehicles, including maintenance, upkeeping, and documentation.
- Responsible for daily check ins/outs with the crews, timely timesheet completions, timely submissions of incident reports and Good Catches.
- Meets up with existing and potential clients to advise on work and develop work prescriptions and plans.
- Develops forms, checklists to help with crew organization and scheduling.
- Responsible for internal crew training (Field Maps, rangefinders, relevant online industry training).
- Administers key elements of the company’s Health and Safety Program.
- Assists in the development of annual budget by identifying crew PPE and equipment needs, vehicle needs, areas of improvement & needs when it comes to crew trailer, saw shop & storage facilities.
- Assist with planning for crew training & professional development.
- Provide project coordination support for Ecosystem Restoration and Forestry, as required.

**Qualifications and skills**:

- Education/Experience_
- Undergraduate degree related to natural resource management or related field, OR
- Three (3) years experience working in utility vegetation management or in the field of forestry vegetation management.
- Interest in First Nations cultural and environmental values and stewardship is essential; past work with First Nations is considered a definite asset.
- Experience in arboriculture, specifically field work (falling, climbing, bucking, running a chainsaw) is considered a definite asset.
