**Position Description**:
This position is responsible for co-ordinating the development of policies, practices, and procedures to support the hospital in implementing and complying with the standards set out in the provincially mandated Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). This role will be responsible for coordinating multi-year plans focusing on meeting and/or exceeding the AODA requirements of hospitals to advance a barrier-free accessible environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors. The incumbent will play a key membership role in the SickKids¿ Accessibility Advisory Committee and is responsible for developing and sustaining a greater awareness of accessibility and barrier-free considerations among patients, families, staff, and the community. This position will have a dual reporting relationship (50:50) to the Manager, Health and Absence Management Program (HAMP) and the Sr. Manager, Child and Family Centred Care.

**Here's What You¿ll Get To Do**
- Lead an organization-wide barrier analysis to facilitate the development of an updated 5-year Accessibility Plan at SickKids
- Coordinate and assist in maintaining an enterprise-wide multi-year accessibility plan
- Track performance against the plan and course correct as required.
- Support leaders in the submission of the AODA compliance report to the Ministry
- Maintain awareness of legislation, regulations, and standards related to accessibility and accommodations for persons with disabilities
- Implement best practices to improve accessibility at SickKids
- Support the development of mandatory and other educational materials focusing on accessibility
- Facilitate educational opportunities and activities that aim to create awareness and foster a culture of inclusion
- Provide consultation on procurement processes for equipment purchases, service contracts, redevelopment projects and leased spaces from an accessibility lens
- Working in collaboration with Patient and Family Engagement leaders, engage patients and families with lived experience to inform ongoing accessibility work in collaboration with patient experience and family services team
- Engage staff and community-based disability organizations regularly
- Hold a key membership role in the Accessibility Committee (e.g., chair/co-chair responsibilities)
- Present to relevant stakeholder committees at the hospital
- Collaborate, when necessary, with Human Resources, Occupational Health and Health Absence Management Program to facilitate accommodation solutions to support employees with disabilities
- Participate in external accessibility community of practice with co-chair of Accessibility Steering Committee

**Here¿s What You¿ll Need**:

- A bachelor¿s degree or college level diploma in accessibility studies, diversity studies, social justice, or related discipline
- Two or more years of progressive experience in relevant field e.g., disability management, occupational health, social justice, or accessibility
- Ability to impart sensitive or controversial information with tact and sensitively to diverse groups with divergent interests.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong documentation and writing skills.
- High degree of resourcefulness, initiative, and discretion.
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives
- Must be credible, non
- judgmental, and impartial.
