**Initial priorities** for the HR Generalist involve finalizing and launching the Employee Handbook, handling seasonal recruitment and onboarding processes, and researching best practices for our USA Division regarding employee relations, benefits, WCB compliance, and supporting the accounting department with payroll management.

**Responsibilities & Duties**
- Offer comprehensive guidance and counsel to both management and employees regarding HR matters, aligning with relevant legislations and our internal protocols.
- Establish yourself as a reliable point of contact for employees, ensuring seamless communication of changes or pertinent information and creating new communication channels.
- Collaborate closely with owners and the management team, anticipating needs, and demonstrating astute judgment to ensure effective risk mitigation.
- Innovate, develop, and implement procedures and policies to consistently enhance operational efficiency and elevate the employee experience.
- Work hand-in-hand with management to foster a positive company culture and bolster employee engagement.
- Identify avenues for employee and leadership growth through learning and development initiatives.
- Spearhead the development and execution of payroll and WCB processes and policies for our USA Division.
- Take charge of the entire recruitment cycle and liaise with the Health and Safety Manager and Department Managers to provide an exceptional onboarding experience.
- Manage all administrative facets of onboarding, including new hire orientation and exit interviews.
- Investigate employee grievances and adeptly navigate resolution for employee relations issues in a timely manner, supporting all involved parties.
- Oversee the employee database across the Group of Companies.
- Administer benefits, handling account setups and closures, processing claim forms, assisting employees with inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to guarantee precision in payroll and employee file management, including tasks such as managing vacation requests, overseeing benefits adjustments, and updating personnel files.

**Qualifications, Education and Skills Required**
- **Education & Experience**_
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management.
- Minimum **3 years **of experience working in Human Resources at the Coordinator and/or Generalist level.
- Previous experience in the rail industry, manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, or construction is considered an asset, but is not a requirement.
- **Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**_
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR-related legislations such as the Employment Standards Acts and Human Rights Act.
- Proven experience and knowledge of HR functions including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, engagement, compensation, benefits, training, policies, and payroll.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
- Solid relationship management abilities to developing and maintaining rapport with individuals at all position levels.
- A proven self-starter that is eager to learn and tackle multiple projects with competing timelines.
- Comfortable with certain levels of ambiguity.
- Ability to stay flexible and shift priorities as needed to meet business demands.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Analytical and proactive by nature.
