The Executive Chef is responsible for leading and directing the Kitchen team in preparing meals for our guests. Our Executive Chefs create and plan our restaurant menus to make our guests’ restaurant experience amazing. **Responsibilities for this role include**:

- Managing the daily operations of the kitchen department, ensuring full compliance with all Bellstar policies and procedures
- Creating unique and profitable restaurant menu, catering & banquet menu, and specials
- Leading the line during busy meal periods, ensuring dishes are cooked to recipe standards and timed correctly, with quality ingredients and cooking techniques
- Working closely with the General Manager to create financial plans for the kitchen
- Managing the hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes of all kitchen team
- Constantly seeking out ways to improve service and increase profits through innovative menus and promotions
- Communicating the goals to all restaurant staff with inspiring leadership to grow the business and profits
- Controlling food cost by ensuring correct amount of food is ordered for business levels, and limiting waste as much as possible through regular quality checks and portion control
- Reviewing BEOs, costing, preparing, and executing as requested
- Managing various administrative duties including scheduling, ordering, inventory, and invoicing, ensuring food & labor costs are in line with budget
- Complying with all legislative requirements and internal standards, policies, and procedures while upholding the company’s core values
- Overseeing the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring adherence to all related legislation
- Other relevant and related duties as assigned

**The “must haves”**:

- 4 years full-service restaurant Management experience
- Journeyman certification or equivalent culinary education
- Valid Food safety/sanitation certification
- Extensive knowledge of food products and various cooking procedures & techniques
- Experience in menu design and food costing
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to create performance driven results
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Great organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to repeatedly push, pull and lift up to 50lbs as well as stand, bend, twist and stretch for long periods of time

**The “nice to haves”**:

- Valid certification in First Aid
- Valid certification in WHIMS
