Remote Peer Support

We are seeking peer support counsellors to provide individual counselling and/or other mental health services for clients with a variety of challenges. This will include:
- Screening/assessment to provide appropriate interventions for individuals with addiction and/or mental health challenges
- Provide telehealth support sessions with clients, and availability for on-demand support by text or phone
- Provide support in the conduct of peer support training programs and weekly drop-in workshops
- Coordinate with the client’s therapist
- Maintain clinical documentation
- Maintaining client records including case notes, assessments, treatment plans, service delivery logs and discharge summaries
- Participating in in-house peer consultation/supervision and staff training programs
- SMART Recovery Facilitator, CRAFT, and Family and Friends training an asset
We are an evidence-based and culturally competent care practice. We are seeking peer support counsellors to join a dynamic and growing practice
Qualifications:
- A University degree or College diploma in a relevant area of health-related discipline along with formal training in addiction or peer support counseling
- Three years of relevant experience in providing services to individuals who live with an addiction issue
- Ability to provide support in group and individual settings, assessment, supportive counseling, and referral in the field of addictions and harm reduction
- Ability to effectively utilize community resources such as peer support groups
- Ability to work flexible hours via telehealth
- Working knowledge on the various harm reduction practices and models
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- The ability to work independently
- Strong English communication skills, verbal and written
- SMART Recovery Facilitator, CRAFT, and Family and Friends training an asset
