Remote, Canada Caregivers Alberta Full time

_NOTE: This is a _**Canada Summer Jobs Grant-funded position**_. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30._

In Alberta, there are over one-million unpaid family caregivers taking care of a family member or friend who needs their help due to an illness, disability or age-related issue. We know that the contributions of family caregivers - amounting to over 80 per cent of the care provided in the community - dwarf the contributions of our formal health-care system -- and yet caregivers remain widely unacknowledged and unsupported. This puts a significant portion of the caregiving population at risk of becoming patients themselves. At Caregivers Alberta, we’re working to change that.

Caregivers Alberta is a not-for-profit registered charity whose mission is to empower caregivers and promote their well-being through support, information, education and leadership. Caregivers Alberta is committed to caregiver support, strategic collaboration, and advocacy in support of family caregivers.

Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Marketing, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with a variety of community outreach initiatives. This includes, developing social media calendars and content (graphics, copy, posting on the platforms, etc.); sharing events on the Eventbrite platform (graphics, event descriptions, etc.); gathering caregiver stories to share on our newsletter, website and social media using a multi-media approach (podcasts, video, written stories, etc.)

This role requires an ambitious self-starter who is able to work both independently and as part of our team. This will be primarily a remote role, with multiple video meetings each day, including a daily touchpoint with the Manager. A weekly summary of tasks and accomplishments will be required to account for your full use of our agreed-upon work hours.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in learning more about nonprofit marketing, communications and events.

- Monitor the content on social media platforms and seek guidance on response, where necessary

- Recent graduate or current student of a post-secondary program in the areas of communications, marketing or journalism
- Ability to develop and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders
