Some evenings and weekends as needed. - **Education Level** - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. - **Career Level** - Requires a minimum 3 years of relevant experience. - **Department Description**: The Student Success Centre (SSC) | Student Affairs serves an integral, central role in the development and provision of innovative programs and services to students in the areas of First-Year Experience (including outreach, access, transition, and orientation, financial education and support, and the Archway Program, the full-year First-Year Mentorship Program); Academic & Writing Skills Development; Career Counselling, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Experiential Learning; International Student Services (ISS) and Global Experience; Spiritual Care and Learning; Leadership Development; and Student Community Relations. The Student Success Centre works in strong collaboration with Student Affairs, Faculty, and University partners, and with external community partners through the Office of Community Engagement (OCE). The vision for the SSC is for all students and alumni to thrive and realize their academic, professional and personal aspirations. The McMaster University 2021-2024 Institutional Priorities and Strategic Framework, as set forth by University President David Farrar, highlights the key priority of advancing and supporting innovation in teaching and learning. The Student Success Centre, within Student Affairs, undertakes a lead role in the development of a holistic student experience, beginning in the first year and extending beyond the classroom, which fundamentally supports the transformative learning of students. This personalized, engaging, and holistic student experience is intended to promote personal growth, support health, self-efficacy, and well-being, and enhance a sense of belonging, inclusive community, and connectedness of all students within the McMaster University community. **Job Summary**: Responsible for identifying, developing, promoting, evaluating, sustaining and supporting, programs, and placements related to career development and community engagement. Promotes student development, success and retention and enriches undergraduate education and career development, by coaching and providing services to students dealing with career choice, educational direction and goal progress. Builds strategic alliances with faculty, staff, student groups, and the greater community to create and maintain a culture of collaboration and partnership. **Purpose and Key Functions**: - Identify, cultivate and maintain strategic employer and community relationships in the private, public and not-for - profit community. - Interview employer and community partners to understand recruitment needs. - Maintain relationships with employers and community partners and act as a liaison between faculty, staff, partners and students to ensure the timely communication of information and adherence to policies and procedures. - Secure placements for students with employers and community partners. - Provide individual coaching services and guidance to students in developing tools for career and academic success, including, but not limited to, development of learning objectives, integrating experiential education into academic learning paths, seeking, finding and completing experiential placements, job search strategies, interview skills, networking, and negotiation skills. - Conduct mid - and post - placement interviews and facilitate group debrief sessions with students to assist in the evaluation of learning experiences, assess successful achievement of learning objectives and develop future goals. - Deal sensitively, responsibly and calmly with students who present with serious medical, social, and psychological issues and refer to appropriate care. - Design and deliver workshops and presentations based on understanding research, sound methodology and an understanding of students’ experiences and needs in response to faculty and student needs. - Write and deliver pertinent information for students, faculty and community partners for presentation in print and on - line formats. - Research and create content, learning plans, evaluation criteria and assessment methods, and courseware for various courses related to career planning, leadership, and experiential education. - Write a variety of documents including, but not limited to, refe
