Housing and Conference Services (HCS) directly supports the University’s goal of advancing human and societal wellbeing and McMaster’s overriding vision of ‘_educating for capability_.’ We provide a distinctive living and learning experience for 3600 students focused on key educational priorities including community development, personal growth and wellness, academic excellence, and inclusion.

HCS concurrently drives a positive McMaster experience for guests, alumni, staff, faculty, and student by providing accommodation and event coordination, which meet the highest standards of service excellence. HCS is a proud and significant ancillary contributor to the financial health of the University and the core academic and research mission of McMaster.

HCS is currently in a time of significant expansion as capacity is expanding by 66% over the next several years. Moving from 3600 to 6000 bed spaces across 15 buildings. This expansion will diversify the housing operation dramatically, from a traditional focus on the housing needs of first year undergraduate students, to the introduction of upper year, graduate, and family housing, in addition to a constantly diversifying internal and external client base.

The annual budget for HCS is currently (pre-expansion) approximately $31 million and we employ 100+ full-time and 250 part-time staff. HCS reports directly to both the divisions of Student Affairs and Administration. HCS reports directly to both the divisions of Student Affairs, as well as Operations & Finance.

**Summary**:
Responsible for the development and implementation of strategic partnerships across and beyond campus to support and enhance the co-curricular first-year programming in Housing & Conference Services both within and the Living Learning Communities and to more wholesomely align with Faculty. Utilizes a diverse range of experiential learning initiatives and co-curricular activities to promote engagement, resilience, skills development, and future academic success for first-year students living in McMaster University Residence. Builds strategic partnerships with faculty, staff, student groups, student governments, and the greater Hamilton community to create a culture of community, partnership, and reciprocity.

**Details**:

- Work with and advise the Department and relevant partners regarding the development, coordination and enhancement of leadership and experiential course and program design and development projects that meet learning goals for McMaster residence students.
- Develop an effective and efficient program delivery strategy such as student-based models, seminars, workshops, and online resources that serve to optimize resources and service capacity for McMaster residence students.
- Identify, build, cultivate and maintain relationships with campus partners and with others across the University and the greater Hamilton community to improve educational opportunities for McMaster residence students.
- Deliver program, training, seminars, services, events, and initiatives that are based on clearly articulated learning outcomes for McMaster residence students.
- Respond to inquiries to McMaster University’s Housing and Conference Services from community members interested in research, education, or reciprocal partnerships in residence.
- Supervise, manage, and facilitate the development and negotiation of partnership agreements with community organizations and campus partners to improve the university experience for McMaster residence students.
- Work collaboratively with multiple community partners, organizations, and residents to support students’ leadership development and community and campus engagement.
- Design and implement evaluation strategies such as surveys, focus groups, and rubrics to measure program outcomes and effectiveness.
- Align learning goals and develop new co-curricular programming for McMaster residence students.
