London Cares programming continues to grow and expand to meet the needs of the community we serve. We are seeking a **Housing Stability Worker** to join our Veteran team in a full-time capacity working Monday to Friday for 35 hours per week.

London Cares, in conjunction with The Royal Canadian Legion, has developed a unique program that specifically works with Veterans experiencing homelessness to provide Intensive Case Management support and system collaboration with Veteran Specific Services. We are in the unique position of having the only Housing Stability Intensive Case Management Program supporting Veterans in London, Ontario. Veterans are special individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving our country and often have unique and complex needs. A Veteran who is experiencing homelessness can be linked directly to London Cares for immediate support.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

In this role you will be a member of the Housing Stability Team reporting to the Housing Coordinator, or any other person as the Employer may assign from time to time and carry out such duties as assigned to you by the Employer.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
As the Veteran’s specific Housing Stability Worker, you will establish and maintain relationships with veterans who have experienced homelessness through the delivery of in-home intensive, ongoing, and collaborative case management services. This work is directed by the needs of the veteran and aims to support individuals and families to achieve stability in their home and community.

Working in partnership with Veteran serving agencies, this worker will act as an advocate and support with system navigation to assist veterans in accessing health care, financial support, food security and housing stability.

As the primary case manager, you will maintain and build partnerships and connections to Veteran specific supports including Veterans Affairs Canada, The Royal Canadian Legion and St Joseph’s Health Care London’s Operational Stress Injury Clinic.

In the position you will connect with veterans experiencing homelessness and through a low barrier, trauma informed approach, work to build rapport and develop trusting relationships.

This worker will liaison with landlords and property management companies, work in collaboration with the City of London and with the Veterans Experiencing Homelessness Advisory Committee to further establish and maintain the Veterans specific program and coordinate a complex system to have veterans feel like they have a seamless experience.

As we operate in a full team approach to those most marginalized in our community, we are looking for staff with flexibility and adaptability, who will work as part of our broader team.

There may be times when you will be expected to support the Outreach Team, the Resting Space Team, or the HUB, in picking up short notice relief shifts in order that these vital programs remain running.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education in the field of social work, human services, addictions, or mental health
- 2+ years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and vulnerable populations
- Complex case management experience
- Clear vulnerable police record check
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR is a requirement of this position.
- A valid ‘G’ drivers license
- Training in non-violent crisis intervention and ASSIST considered an asset

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Advanced skills in motivational interviewing and facilitating SMART goals
- A willingness to uphold a low-barrier approach and understanding of harm reduction and housing first principles.
- Strong advocacy and in-the-moment conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of community resources in the City of London and system navigation will be an asset to this role.
