**Home and Community Care Worker - Part Time**
**Wage - $24 - $26 per hour based on experience**
**Brief Description**:
Provide home care services to the Nations members who require additional help to maintain a healthy standard of living given their medical state, on a part-time basis.
This position offers 20 hours per week with the potential for temporary 35 hours per week to cover shifts when coworkers are away. If you're someone who is flexible, motivated, and enjoys working in a team environment, we encourage you to apply.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Assist client with completing personal care and hygiene routines
- Perform housekeeping duties, such as preparing meals, feeding or assist with feeding, laundry, and household cleaning that maintains sanitary conditions in the home environment.
- Provide companionship for the client.
- Transport clients to scheduled health care appointments outside of the home, if necessary.
- Educate and advise the client and their family members regarding appropriate home care support and consult with the family members to ensure that these needs are being met.
- Stay current on the client’s health and care needs; knowledge/experience with medication administration such as insulin and take blood glucose as needed. Liaise with healthcare professionals, if necessary.
- Advocate on behalf of the clients for additional service and resources, as required.
- Track and maintain a record of home care support being provided to the clients.
- Assist client with safe vehicle transfer.

**Qualifications**:
- High School Diploma
- Graduate from a recognized Care Aid Program
- Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with willingness to obtain a Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license
Knowledge:
- Human health, healthcare practices, health legislation
- Cultural Sensitivity and knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice
Skills and abilities:
- Organizational skills, verbal communication skills, time management, interpersonal skills, housekeeping skills
- Attributes:
- Confidentiality, professional conduct, sound judgement, tactful and respectful, diplomacy, empathy, sympathy, customer-oriented, trust, integrity
- Must possess a clear criminal record check for the vulnerable services sector.
- Clear driver’s abstract
- Food Safe Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Up-to-date immunizations
- **Working Environment**:
- Works onsite at clients personal housing units
- Based at the Snaw-Naw-As Health Centre
- **Physical requirements**:
- Good health, allowing one to perform physical tasks throughout the day, including bending, lifting, carrying, and walking.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and lift or carry items over 20lbs.
- Must be able to be mobile and visit personal housing locations that can only be accessed by stairs or rough, uneven ground.
Wage rate commensurate with experience
Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
