**Position Summary**
As the Shop Manager at Rustyk Design, you’ll be the cornerstone of our woodshop, ensuring that projects run smoothly while fostering a positive and productive environment. This role is a blend of leadership, craftsmanship, and project management. You’ll be hands-on, working alongside our talented carpenters and apprentices, guiding them as they develop their skills while maintaining high standards for craftsmanship and quality.
You’ll manage the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring that projects stay on schedule and that clients are kept informed throughout the process. Communication between our team and clients is crucial, and as the Shop Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our clients' visions come to life.
**Responsibilities**
- Organize, schedule, and monitor shop projects
- Provide hands-on carpentry experience
- Mentor and guide apprentices
- Liaise with clients to ensure feasibility of designs
- Maintain communication with management on project progress
- Oversee quality control for shop products
- Ensure safety protocols are followed
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
- Collaborate with in-house designer or constructability

- Proven woodworking, cabinet making and people management experience

- Ability to commute to 4014 4 St SE
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Calm and approachable demeanour
- Ability to make decisions quick and effectively based on experience
**Working Conditions**
- Woodshop environment with loud noises and wood dust
- On your feet for most of the day
- Heavy lifting (lumber, tables, etc.)
- Use of power tools
- CSA-approved steel-toe boots required (supplied safety equipment)

**Your Role as a Shop Manager**
- Review project estimates with Office Manager
- Lead daily team huddles and track progress
- Maintain shop organization and cleanliness
- Facilitate communication between shop, office, and trades
- Oversee project costs and assist with small custom designs
- Handle administrative tasks (timesheets, project forms)
- Ensure client visions are realized through collaboration
- Manage shop tool maintenance
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
