**Overview**

The **Accounting Analyst **is responsible for day to day, as well as month end, finance and accounting duties related to branches of Spark Power's Eastern Canada. The project accountant acts as a liaison between operations of the respective business units and finance. The focus on excellent customer service through regular communication and delivery of essential data to the branches will be key to the success in this role. While performing the tasks, project accountant looks for process improvements leading to quicker turnaround times, transparent reporting, and improved customer service.

**Here's what you will do as a Accounting Analyst at Spark Power**:

- Responsible for accurate revenue recognition and related costs.
- Regular review of Work in Progress reporting ensuring accuracy and highlighting opportunities for additional revenue recognition.
- Balance Sheet Variance Analysis and Month end balance sheet reconciliation
- Review and posting of the respective business units payroll entries
- Collaborating with Spark's AR team as well as business unit managers on managing AR aging ensuring timely billing and collection
- Preparation of the Sales Tax returns for Canadian businesses
- Responsible for regular meetings with branch managers offering guidance on the results of the branches and assisting with any inquiries budget, forecast or actual results related for their respective branches
- Review monthly bank reconciliation and work with finance department on ensuring outstanding items are cleared in a timely fashion
- Monthly Actual to Budget/Forecast analysis with adequate commentary explaining material variances.
- Assistance with quarterly and year end audits
- Posting and Reviewing Journal Entries (Prepaids, Expense Accruals, Payroll)
- Other duties as assigned

**Do you have the Spark? Here's what we are looking for**:

- **Experience -** 3 - 5 years related experience
- **Education -** University degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance is required.
- Strong concepts of accounting fundamentals is a must
- Pursing CPA Designation is preferred
- Proven experience of ability to analyze WIP costs and correctly recognize revenue based on the analysis.
- Experience with month-end accounting processes
- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a positive attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize assigned tasks
- Demonstrated ability to meet defined deadlines and KPIs
- Eager and career-oriented attitude with a desire to grow professionally
- Ability to work in a hybrid work model
