As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our corporate databases. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, availability, and security, while collaborating on projects that drive the company's success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer and maintain database systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Plan and implement database designs, storage solutions, and migrations.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data recoverability.
- Design, configure, and maintain SQL Server replication across distributed environments.
- Manage and evolve database schemas in coordination with developers and data architects to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance with business requirements.
- Configure and manage SQL Server instances.
- Work closely with Infrastructure team on firewall rules, port configurations, and networking concerns related to SQL Server.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain SSIS packages to support ETL processes, data transformation, and integrations between systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve production database issues, ensuring mínimal downtime and quick turnaround during incidents.
- Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and best practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies; recommend improvements.
- Performs other special assignments and related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to responding to, anticipating and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and maintenance.
- Requires a thorough understanding of database administration including performance tuning, security, data replication, backup and recovery.
- Familiarity with Redgate, Visual Studio, Github, PowerBI, SSRS and SSAS.
- Experience with performance and automation tools plus scripting languages.
- Knowledge of data security practices and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Familiarity with AWS RDS cloud database services.
- Experience with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB.
- One or more relevant industry certifications will be an asset.
