Summary:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and working in collaboration with the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing or designate:
- Provide consultation and education in wound, ostomy, and continence care.- Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and interdisciplinary team members.- Work with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) across BC to support consistent, standards-based care.- Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate education programs for staff.- Promote evidence-based clinical interventions in client care planning.- Build staff capacity and competence in wound, ostomy, and continence care.- Support quality improvement and best practices across care sites.- Travel between PHC sites using personal vehicle or shuttle service as required.- Regular local travel is required, especially for roles supporting Residential sites.

What You Bring:
**Education**:

- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
- Two (2) years recent, related advanced wound/ ostomy/ continence care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Successful completion of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Institute of Canada (NSWOCC) - Wound, Ostomy, Continence
- Education Program (WOC-EP) or the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurse Certificate (WOCN).

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to teach, coach, and provide clinical support.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
- Ability to identify learning needs and develop educational programs.
- Ability to provide and/or develop resource materials, including educational materials.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of adult education principles.
- Ability to lead a group.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family centered model of care.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice.
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence based nursing practice related to designated clinical area.
- Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
- Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide leadership and work direction.
- Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.

**Your Day to Day**:

- Provide clinical consultation for complex wound and ostomy care by assessing clients, reviewing charts, and collaborating with the care team
- Deliver direct patient care using advanced nursing skills within the specialty area
- Plan, implement, and evaluate education programs based on staff learning needs and clinical priorities
- Promote evidence-based practice by integrating research into policies, procedures, and education materials
- Act as a clinical resource by mentoring staff, role modeling best practices, and supporting complex case discussions
- Review and recommend updates to clinical policies, procedures, and reference materials
- Participate in research activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to wound and ostomy care
